H2O Infusions

Live Young Lifestyle- Darnell CoxGood ol’ H2O. There is nothing better for your body. We all know we are supposed to drink at least 8 glasses a day, but that can get a little boring. These quick H2O infusion recipes are a great way to add a little kick to your water that will inspire you to keep drinking more.

The basic recipe is simple: Place your favorite combinations (see below) into a large pitcher of water and refrigerate for at least 2 – 4 hours in order to allow the ingredients to infuse. (I leave mine overnight.) Strain and discard the solids. When serving, add fresh slices and sprigs of the “flavors” you infused into your glass. The infused water can be stored in your refrigerator for up to 2 days. For sparkling water, fill the pitcher halfway with seltzer water. After straining, add the remaining seltzer water.

Here are some of my favorite infusions:

LIME & BASIL: This infusion gives you a boost of iron and vitamin C.

ORANGE & VANILLA BEAN: Vanilla is high in antioxidants, while the oranges supply vitamin C.  If you don’t have vanilla bean, vanilla extract is will also do the trick.

FullSizeRender 3CUCUMBER & STRAWBERRY: Among other things, cucumbers help flush out toxins and fights heat both inside and out, while strawberries are loaded with antioxidants.

Other great combos to try:
Pineapple, Ginger & Mint
Jalapeño & Watermelon
Peach & Cayenne Pepper
Grapefruit
Watermelon & Mint
Orange & Raspberry…

As you can see, the combinations are endless. So let’s get excited again about water! Infusing your H2O is a really good way to up your daily intake.

Live Young,

Darnell 🙂
